Research Positions in the Areas of Wireless Communications and Data Science

We always accept applications from self-motivated students with a solid background in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science. Selected applicants will join the Mobile Systems, Intelligent Networks, and Data Science (MINDS) Laboratory (Directed by Dr. Semiari) as graduate research assistants (GRAs) and will pursue a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering. The areas of research are at the intersections of wireless communications (5G/6G systems and beyond), machine learning, communications at millimeter wave and Terahertz frequencies, autonomous vehicles, and wireless extended reality. Tuition waiver and a monthly salary will be supported depending on availability of funds.

Responsibilities: Students are expected to conduct an independent research and be able to publish their results in prestigious IEEE/ACM conferences and journals.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.

  • Solid analytical background.

  • Strong communications skills.

  • Programming in MATLAB or Python.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.

  • Research experience and publication record.

  • Background in optimization theory, machine learning, reinforcement learning, or game theory.

  • Background in communication systems.

  • Experience in testbed development or working with network simulators.
